At Thirroul Podiatry we provide both customized and off the shelf orthotics. Both orthotics have their place in a treatment plan. After the patient has had a bio-mechanical assessment performed, a customized orthotic may be prescribed. The patient's feet are scanned by the gaitscan plate which shows the practitioner exactly where and when the forces are acting on the feet. This information coupled with a thorough history of the patient's symptoms allows the practitioner to prescribe an orthotic that will help redistribute the forces more evenly throughout the foot. The orthotic's design will also take into account the footwear of the patient.
